With its tiny form factor and integrated swivel for easy positioning, the mic is suitable for a wide variety of applications, including mobile journalism and run-and-gun filming.

The unidirectional polar pattern provides a focused audio capture, greatly diminishing unwanted ambiance while focusing intently on whatever is in front of the mic. The built-in shockmount helps you avoid recording unwanted handling noise. The SR-XM1 is compatible with a wide array of Saramonic gear, including UWMIC9, UWMIC10, and UWMIC15 transmitters as well as the SmartRig+ Series and LavMic.  A foam windscreen is included.
